Those who follow us since the beginning can remember that BBdoc started the first discussions (on our French boards) concerning a Test CD for divx players in march 2004. After 3 monthes of preparation, what we now call the DivxTest project was offically launched on june 14th, 2004.
Since that time Bbdoc’s CD became a kind of standard and we are proud to see that it’s often the first tool people think about when they want to evaluate their player. Divx Magazine (a reference in Divx French publications) confirmed the usefulness of the Project by distributing the CD in its 8th Edition .
In the meantime a version 1.1 was finalized, which corrected several more or less annoying bugs.
Since now more than 9 monthes that the Cd was born, the world of divx players changed. Surely our v1.x version aimed to be ready for future evolutions, as it was from the beginning integrating videos like mkv, ogm (that just start being read by players now) , wmv9 or rmvb... From this point of view our Cd is still a valuable tool to test the players compatibility.
But dvd-divx players now more and more turn to real multimedia players and some functionnalities get more popular than ever(Super Audio CD, onboard harddrive...). Considering such parameters in our tests now make sense, as players with these functionnalities are not unique cases any more. Connectivity has also evolved.
Besides, new ideas and expectations have come to light while using the CD. That’s why the whole Team decided to launch the second version of Bbdoc’s CD ! Discussions have already started some time ago on the French part of our boards . Things get more and more accurate and BBdoc has now finished a first summary of the new things that may be part of the next version.

for medias : mini-CD, mini-DVD, DVD-audio, Super Audio CD, HDCD
for functionnalities : MP3+JPG reading at the same time, divx resume option
for the audio side : support of karaoke format, support of mp3 tags, playlist creation
on the hardware side : ethernet port, USB, onboard harddrive, card reader...
There’s no deadline fixed yet, but it is most likely that the v2.0 will be launched before the first anniversary of our project (that was june last year !). Its specifications however will be definitely settled during the first quarter 2005. That’s why we invite you to share your ideas on our English boards on MPC , so that the next version will comply with everyone’s expectation..
We are proud to announce that we will soon validate our 500 player test ! DivXTest is the reference when it comes to a DVD player or vidéo hardrives test.
In 2008, we’ll imporve the website and also provide new test files for downloading.
